Let’s be honest: the climate crisis can feel overwhelming. But the latest numbers make one thing clear—we cannot afford to wait. According to the United Nations Environment Programme, the world is likely to pass 1.5°C of global warming within the next decade, while global emissions rose by more than 2% in 2024. These changes directly threaten marine life, coastal communities, and our children’s future. That’s why saving our ocean for our children has never been more urgent.

Our oceans work hard for us. They absorb heat, store carbon, and support billions of lives. But today, carbon dioxide levels are higher than they’ve been in at least two million years. Warmer waters, dying coral reefs, and plastic pollution are warning signs we can’t ignore. Protecting the ocean is essential to saving our ocean for our children and keeping communities safe.
The Global Earthshore Movement focuses on solutions people can see and take part in. One of the simplest and most effective actions is mitigating climate change by beach cleaning. Removing plastic before it enters the ocean protects marine life, restores coastal ecosystems, and reduces pollution tied to fossil fuels. It’s a local action with global impact.
Even if countries meet their current climate promises, scientists warn the planet could still warm by 2.3°C to 2.5°C by century’s end. To avoid the worst impacts, emissions must fall by 55% by 2035 to stay near 1.5°C, or 35% to stay closer to 2°C. That’s why mitigating climate change by beach cleaning must happen alongside broader climate solutions.
The Global Earthshore Movement believes change starts with people who care. Saving our ocean for our children means acting today—joining cleanups, supporting education, and choosing to help. Donate, get involved, and stand with the Global Earthshore Movement, because saving our ocean for our children depends on what we do now, and saving our ocean for our children truly cannot wait.
